Nomination Process

The SAMM Awards will honor the best and the brightest in the builder industry for their achievements in Sales + Advertising + Marketing + Merchandising!

Want to nominate a builder for the SAMM Awards? The process is simple. Pick from the award categories below, gather all of the required elements for that award category, and submit your nomination form on the website by deadline of October 9, 2017.

Nomination submissions are only available online. $95 Nomination Fee.

How to Nominate:

  • Select the award category then enter the requested information into the form for that category. To submit for an award, simply visit the ‘Nomination’ tab on the website and select “Nomination Form”
  • Only the individual or company that is being nominated will receive an email confirming the award nomination.

Please Note:

  • Nominee must answer all questions pertaining to the award category or the nominee will not be considered for the SAMM Award. Another person may fill out the questions for the nominee – simply specific the nominator name and contact information on the form you fill out.
  • You should receive an email confirmation after you have submitted your nomination. If you do not receive your SAMM Award confirmation, please contact Breanna Johnson at info@dlpmarketing.com to confirm we have received it. 
  • Nominees must be present at the event to receive the award. Tickets to the event must be purchased by visiting here.

Advertising/Marketing | The SAMM Awards will be honoring the best and the brightest in the builder industry for advertising and marketing efforts and campaigns. Below is a list of categories that will be recognized for a SAMM Award in advertising and marketing:

  1. Best Website (Community or Builder)
  2. Best Print Ad Campaign (Direct Mail)
  3. Best Individual Print Ad (Newspaper or Magazine)
  4. Best Digital Ad Campaign (Includes e-blasts, *does not include Facebook/ Google)
  5. Best Online Banner Ad Campaign (Includes Facebook and Google Banners with Statistics)
  6. Best Sales Collateral (Print Materials for Sales Office to Hand Out)
  7. Best Video (YouTube and/or Creative Use of Video)
  8. Best Social Media Campaign (Organic Posting)
  9. Best Facebook Lead Generation Campaign (Impressions, Cost per Lead, CTR%)
  10. Best Billboard or Large Format

Judging Criteria:  Judges will make their selections based on visual impact (aesthetic of the campaign/ materials being submitted), statistics of the campaign (success rates, goals and outcome of the campaign being submitted) and complexity of the marketing strategy.
Materials Needed:

    • One image (JPEG or PDF) of each campaign or link to product/ campaign. 
    • Statement of 250 characters describing the overall campaign and strategy associated with the campaign.
  1. Best Builder Branding or Community Branding

Judging Criteria:  Visual impact (aesthetic of the campaign/ materials being submitted) and overall cohesiveness of the branding. 
Materials Needed:

    • Images and links to branded items (Logo, Website/ Landing Page/ Sales Collateral)
    • Statement of 250 characters describing the overall branding of the builder or community and inspiration behind it.


Sales/Marketing | The “Best of Sales” awards are designed to honor both the builder of the community and the sales team involved with the success of sales. Judging will be based on the sales pace of the community with categories available for both infill and suburban homes based on community size/ number of homes sold within given timeframe:

  1. Best of Sales
    1. Attached Infill – Community Size Under 20 Homes
    2. Attached Infill- Community Size Between 21-80 Homes
    3. Attached Infill – Community Size 81+ Homes
    4. Attached Suburban – Community Size Under 20 Homes
    5. Attached Suburban – Community Size Between 21-80 Homes
    6. Attached Suburban – Community Size 81+ Homes
    7. Detached Infill – Community Size Under 20 Homes
    8. Detached Infill- Community Size Between 21-80 Homes
    9. Detached Infill – Community Size 81+ Homes
    10. Detached Suburban – Community Size Under 20 Homes
    11. Detached Suburban – Community Size Between 21-80 Homes
    12. Detached Suburban – Community Size 81+ Homes
Materials Required:

  • Written statement (800 characters or less) describing sales pace and exemplary performance
  • Average Monthly Sale Statistics
  • Name of community/ builder or individual being nominated for the award and appropriate links to websites (if applicable)
  1. Rookie Sales Professional of the Year (Rising Star)

Judging Criteria: Nominees for this SAMM Award category will be judged on how the candidate has adapted to the builder/ real estate industry. Judges will consider the candidates ability to understand the business, manage working relationships and deal with buyers/ other sales people in a professional and enthusiastic manor.
Materials Required:

  • Written statement (1250 characters or less) describing exemplary sales performance and achievement
  • Color photo of candidate/entry
  • Website Links (if applicable)


Merchandising | This SAMM Award category will represent the best in the builder industry for product design and interior / exterior merchandising. Nominees who submit for this category will be judged based on the builder’s creative use of architectural design, functionality of floor plan layouts, furnishings, and overall concepts of the community:

  1. Best Urban or Infill Community of the Year
  2. Best Suburban Community of the Year
  3. Best Master-Planned Community of the Year
Materials required:

  • Five (5) color photos of the home/ community, one (1) of which must be of exterior front.
  • One (1) copy of floor plan.
  • Bedroom/ Bathroom Counts
  • Total square footage of the home.
  1. Best Interior Merchandising for Suburban Homes
  2. Best Interior Merchandising for Urban Homes
  3. Best Outdoor Merchandising for Suburban Homes
  4. Best Outdoor Merchandising for Urban Homes
  5. Best Detached Product Architectural Design for Homes
  6. Best Attached Product Architectural Design for Homes

Judging Criteria:  Judging for the interior and outdoor merchandising/ architectural design categories will be based on the uniqueness of the design, creativity and functionality of the layout, landscape design and architecture, furniture layout and overall creativity as it appeals to the target demographic.
Materials required:

  • Up to three (3) color photos of the home/ community (for outdoor merchandising, one (1) photo must be of the back yard/ exterior.
  • One (1) landscape plan or interior floor plan.
  • Brief statement of no more than 800 characters describing the target market and inspiration.
  • One (1) floor plan of the home.


Deadlines

  • Nominations due October 9, 2017
  • Nominees must answer questions and submit their elements no later than October 9th at 8:00 p.m.
